REQUEST FOR CONFIDENTIALITY OF THE DOCTORAL THESIS

The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid has established a Confidentiality Procedure for Doctoral Theses. In relation to the confidentiality of a thesis, article 21 of the UPM Regulation on Doctoral Thesis states that in "exceptional circumstances such as, among others, the existence of confidentiality agreements with companies or the possibility of generating patents that fall on the content of the thesis, the center responsible for the doctoral program may request confidentiality of the Thesis from the UPM Doctoral Commission. The UPM Doctoral Commission may request additional reports if deems appropriate, and will respond to the request within a maximum period of 2 months. The authorization may be later revoked if, in the opinion of the UPM Doctoral Commission, such circumstances no longer exist. In any case, they will not be exempted from compliance with the requirements expressed in Article 19."

The request for confidentiality must be made 2 months before the submission of the Thesis. The request will be processed through a formal request to the CD-UPM. For this, the doctoral student must submit to the Academic Committee of the Program the confidentiality request duly completed, clearly indicating the time for which confidentiality is to be preserved. The request must be duly justified with additional documentation, either by a confidentiality agreement signed with a company, a patent not yet accepted, etc.

Although confidentiality is not requested, at the time of filling in the TESEO form there is the possibility of delaying the open publication of the Doctoral Thesis.
