PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION

The doctoral admission procedure can be found on the UPM Pre-registration and Doctoral Studies Enrollment website. According to this procedure, the interested student must first make a pre-registrationwhere they will attach the documentation required to be evaluated by the Management Commission. The Program establishes the convenience of having the endorsement of a researcher as a possible Director of the doctoral thesis. This information can be provided in the motivation letter that accompanies the application, which can also be used to record relevant information.

Once the information has been evaluated, the Program will deliver an Admission Letter with which it is possible to enroll into program according to UPM procedures, online (preferably, automatricula https://automatricula.upm.es/automatricula), or in person at the ETSIAAB Student Secretariat. The Royal Decree that governs the doctorate implies that it is of limited duration (4 years + 1 additional year only in very special conditions) starting from Admission. Thus, the date of the Admission Letter determines the start of the Doctorate. In general, admissions for a doctoral course made until December will have a thesis start date of October 1 of the current year. On the other hand, admissions signed from December until the end of the course will have a thesis start date of March 1. However, if admission has been requested before December but the financing contract or enrollment in the doctorate occurs after January, it is possible to change the start date of the doctorate by submitting a formal doctoral start change request and duly justified (admission, contract, registration form, ...) to the CAPD.
