CO-DIRECTION

The Thesis may be co-supervised by another doctor, with accredited research experience when there are academic reasons such as the subjects concurring are interdisciplinar, because the Thesis is intersectoral (for example, academic vs industrial), or when the the Programs are developed in a national/international collaboration. For this purpose, the Academic Commission of the Doctoral Program will issue a positive report following the student’s request. This request for co-supervision must be made at the beginning of the thesis (ideally as soon as the incoming thesis director is assigned after signing the Commitment). Co-direction can only be requested during the first 2 courses of the Thesis.

The application may require 2 steps if the co-director does not belong to the Program. If the co-director alredy belongs to the program, only the documentation for the second point is required:

• Application form of the new PhD director into the doctoral program, according to the admission criteria set out in ADMISSION. To do this, you must submit to the CAPD the CV and justify having a six-year research track or exceeding of 3.5 points as set in order EDU / 3429/2010 of December 28, BOE of January 4, 2011. This procedure is not necessary if the co-director already belongs to the Doctorate Program.

• Application form for co-direction of a Doctoral Thesis, which includes a justification of the Co-direction and must be signed by the 2 directors and the doctoral student. This justification should not be lightly filled at the risk of being rejected by the Doctoral Commission. The request, in addition to containing the merits and capacities of the co-director must clearly delimit the work of each of the directors, indicating the objectives and tasks that each one will supervise.
